Weekend Wrap-Up

Jun 7th, 2010 Posted in Anthropologie, Around Portland, Urban Outfitters | 7 comments »

I had a whole lot of fun this weekend while Mitch’s brother, Brian, was in town. We pretty much did a little bit of everything while Brian was in town. Here’s a great action shot of me kicking Brian’s ass in Mortal Kombat, wearing the Anthropologie Two-Wheeler Dress, which I featured here in March.

I’m completely in love with how Cat has been wearing the Blustery Days jacket lately. She inspired me to break out today. I don’t really wear pants that often (I only own one pair of jeans), so I wore it as a dress with the Anna Sui dress from Anthropologie 2009 under it as a slip. I think it works great like this. I like it as a dress, and it’s a good length, but I definitely recommend wearing another dress underneath as a layer in case it gets too hot. It is, after all, a jacket.

This is probably the last you’ll see of the Urban Outfitters saddle shoes for a while, as I have worn them into the ground. They’re still super cute and super comfortable, but I have found a backup replacement at (of all places) Payless. They were a steal at $17.99, compared to $40 for the Urban Outfitters shoes.

Here are a few more photos of the fun this weekend. The rest are on Flickr.

Finally, thanks to Kjrsten for the beautiful necklace I received. I’m planning an outfit around it, and will show it off this week.

Tremendous News!

I know I’ve been AWOL this week, but I have a very excellent reason. This week, I received my acceptance letter to Portland State University, which means I will begin pursuit of my Master’s of Fine Arts degree in the Fall. This is and incredible dream come true for me. My experiences in Portland regarding my art have been very positive, and I’ve decided to pursue that as a full-time career.

Since I was so excited about my news this week, I forgot to take pictures of any outfits, even though I wanted to participate in Have a Cute Day’s Floral Week. The first outfit is my submission for Floral Week.  I absolutely adore the Anthropologie Botanical Stroll Dress, in all its crazy, cat-ladyness appeal.

The second outfit is what I wore to a party DJ’ed by Tudikas Wayne Hunnicutt, my friend Kristin’s boyfriend. The Catch of the Day Chemise is actually from Anthro’s lounge wear, but it’s way too cute to stay in the bedroom. It also is keeping perfectly in line with my obsession with animal prints lately.

I also got new glasses last week. They’re shown in the second outfit. What do you think?

Saddle Shoes by the Sea Side

Out of the blue, Mitch and I decided to make a run for the coast. It was incredible. We were surrounded by huge trees, in the middle of this huge mountain forest, and then all of a sudden, there’s the Pacific Ocean. It was colder than I expected, I really should have been wearing pants. The next time, I’ll be prepared.

I can’t believe how beautiful Oregon is, all over. If anyone is thinking about moving here or visiting here, I highly recommend it. It’s amazing.

This is another ModCloth dress. They continue to impress me. Their dresses are so simple, so quirky, and really affordable.

Touch of Grey

Since I got this cardigan, I haven’t been able to stop myself from wearing it with everything I have. Something about it just screams, “Wear me every single day!” I decided to pair it with a simple outfit today of just shades of grey and black.

The dress is another great find from ModCloth. It’s a nice jersey cotton, so it’s going to be comfortable all summer long.

Lastly, I topped it off with my obsession of obsessions, my Urban Outfitters saddle shoes. I’m so in love with these shoes that I think I may have to buy another pair, because I don’t think I could live without them. And that’s really saying something, because I am totally a Mary Janes girl.

I hope your week is going well.
